Alicia Genet

Alicia Genet


Alicia is the Head of Risk and Audit at Santos Limited, charged with leading a robust and contemporary approach to risk management and audit for the Santos group since 2015. With a background in corporate law and over 12 years of experience working in private sector legal, strategic and external engagement roles, Alicia’s experience provides a strong foundation for her insights into risk and governance.

Someone who champions the importance of authenticity and diversity, Alicia’s focus is on ensuring that risk and audit have a clear and insightful value proposition within business. She is also a Director and Secretary of Lolly Jar Circus Inc. and has previously been a member of The Australian Mining and Petroleum Association SA Chapter and South Australian Chamber of Mines and Energy Sustainable Development committees.Alicia is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors Company Directors Course and the Leaders Institute of South Australia’s Governor’s Leadership Foundation Program. bAlicia has been a Director of RIMS Australasia Chapter Board since 2016 and is based in Adelaide.

Brian Roylett

Brian Roylett


Brian was instrumental in the establishment of RIMS Australasia Chapter, one of the first international chapters outside of North America to be granted chapter status under a Chapter Charter Agreement approved by the Board of Directors of The Risk and Insurance Management Society Inc.

Brian was a foundation member of Standards Australia OB/7 Committee responsible for the development of AS/NZS 4360: Risk Management, and leads RIMS Australasia’s contribution standards development on SA MB-027/5 Resilience and ISO TC 292: Security and Resilience.

Since incorporation in 2013 Brian has acted as honorary Executive Officer for RIMS Australasia and in 2016 was appointed company secretary. Brian is based in Perth

Cathay Murray

Cathy Murray


Cathy is currently Group Head of Insurance at Goodman Limited and has been with the Group since February 2007. Goodman is an integrated commercial and industrial property group that owns, develops and manages real estate including warehouses, large scale logistics facilities and business and office parks globally.

Cathy has over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry. Prior to joining Goodman, she worked for companies including Sedgwick Limited and later Marsh Pty Limited as a Principal. During this time, she provided insurance broking and risk advisory services to a diverse portfolio of clients including manufacturing, food and beverage, real estate and financial institutions. This experience included working on large multinational insurance programmes, overseas placements, oversight of her client’s property risk management programmes and providing claims management.

Reporting to the Group Corporate Executive at Goodman, Cathy has responsibility for managing the Goodman insurance and property risk management programmes. This covers the Group’s operations in Australia, New Zealand, Greater China, Japan, Malaysia USA, United Kingdom, Europe, Brazil and includes Moorabbin Airport Corporation (Victoria) and Goodman DP World in Hong Kong.

Cathy has been a Director of the RIMS Australasia Chapter Board since October 2015 and is based in Sydney.

Deb Barnes


As the General Manager of QIC’s Risk Management Group, Deb is responsible for managing the enterprise risk framework and strengthening the culture of accountability, governance and risk management across the organisation. Deb joined the Risk team in 2016 after 10 years in QIC’s Global Fixed Income team. From 2011 to 2015 Deb led QIC’s Global Trading team from London and oversaw fixed income, currency, equity and commodity trading across QIC’s liquid market product suite.

To better understand industry best practices, Deb established Australia’s Investment Risk Roundtable in 2017 which brings together 14 senior investment risk professionals to share ideas and leading risk practices across the financial services industry. Since joining QIC in 2006, Deb has completed Executive Education studies at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and the Harvard Business School in the areas of leadership and advanced risk management. In 2018 she returned to HBS to present to the Executive cohort on QIC’s application of learnings from the Risk Management for Corporate Leaders program.

Eammonn Cunningham

Eamonn Cunningham


Eamonn joined the Westfield Group in 1986. After holding various positions in the Finance area he was promoted to the position of Chief Risk Officer in 2005.
Following the restructure of the Westfield Group in 2014, Eamonn became Chief Risk Officer for Scentre Group, the owner and operator of Westfield in Australia and New Zealand and retired in 2016

Eamonn is a past Chairman of the Risk Management Committee of the Property Council of Australia and former member of the M200 Association and a member of AIRMIC's advisory council. A regular contributor to Risk Management publications, he has adjudicated many industry awards.
He led the team that won the Risk Manager/Team of the year at the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) in 2010. In 2014 Eamonn was inducted into the Business Insurance Risk Manager of the Year Honor Role. In May 2017 Eamonn received StrategicRisk's Lifetime Achiever Award at their AsiaPac conference in Singapore.

Eamonn is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is a founding member of RIMS Australasia chapter Board of Directors. A member of RIMS since 2001, he is the Chapter’s RIMS Delegate and is based in Sydney.


Katie Sexton


Katie joined Woods Bagot in 2015 as the Global Leader - Risk, with overall responsibility for the risk management and insurance functions for this multinational architectural practice with offices in Australia, New Zealand, Dubai, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, the United Kingdom and the United States. Prior to this, Katie has had roles as Asia Pacific Risk Manager for Jacobs Engineering as well as in the public sector and insurance industries. 

Katie’s expertise includes enterprise risk management, business continuity and crisis management, health and safety, insurance, claims management, sustainability, compliance, cyber and data security. 

Katie has degrees in health science, history (honours) and a Masters in Risk Management from Monash University. She is also the Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee for Norfolk Island Regional Council.

Katie joined RIMS Australasia in 2019 and is based in Melbourne.

Kevin Bates

Kevin Bates


Kevin joined Lendlease in 2004 and was appointed to his current role of Group Head of Risk and Insurance in March 2014. Prior to his current appointment, Kevin spend 6 years as the Head of Risk and Compliance for the Retail and Communities Business with Lend Lease in Australia, followed by the Head of Risk and Compliance for the Asia Region of Lendlease – a role which Kevin held from 2010 to March 2014.
Kevin joined Lend Lease after a number of years practising as a Corporate Finance Lawyer with a top tier international law firm in London acting on a variety of high profile international market leading transactions.

Kevin sits on the Board of a number of Captives and is a sitting member on the Global Advisory Board for three of the largest global insurers and risk management organisations. Kevin has been a Director of the RIMS Australasia Chapter Board since 2015 and is based in Sydney.

Tim Andrew

Tim Andrew

Risk Manager

Tim is the Risk Manager for the Maritime Risk and Insurance Services Team, within the Department of Defence, having previously worked for 25 years in both the generation and distribution sides of the Electricity Industry in Australia. Tim is an Experienced professional with a wide base of expertise: specialties include Operational Risk Management Framework and System design, Operational Business Reviews and Business Interruption planning, Risk Appetite Statements, Corporate Insurance Program design and placement along with Energy Market Trading Risk Management. Tim has worked for Government Entities, a US Utility, and an Australian Investment Bank.
Tim is one of the Australian located RIMS directors, with an interest in Chapter Development and Sponsor Management. Tim has been a Director of the RIMS Australasia Chapter Board since 2017 and is based in Adelaide.
